Our Research Team
Our research team aims at promoting kidney research with a special focus on a rare kidney disease – Loin Pain Hematuria Syndrome (LPHS). Thanks to competitive peer-reviewed research grant fundings from the Saskatchewan Health Research Foundation and University of Saskatchewan, as well as the donations from the community, and support from the Hospitals of Regina Foundation we are able to conduct world-class research on LPHS, in Regina, Canada.
Dr. Bhanu Prasad, MBBS, MRCP, CCST, FRCPC

Dr. Prasad, PI is an international expert in the area of LPHS. He has dedicated the last decade to managing LPHS patients.
Dr. Kunal Goyal, MD, FRCR, MRCP, FRCPC
Consultant Interventional Radiologist, SHA; Assistant Professor, Radiology, USask, Canada
Dr. Goyal is a recognized expert in the area of Renal Denervation. He has been with our team since 2014.
Dr. Francisco Garcia, BSc, MD, FRCPC
Consultant Urologist, SHA; Assistant Professor, Urology, USask, Canada
Dr. Garcia has been with our team since 2015. He provides diagnostic expertise needed for LPHS.
Dr. Pouneh Dokouhaki, PhD, MD, FRCPC
Dr. Dokouhaki has been with our team since 2015. As an experienced renal pathologist, she assesses the kidney biopsies from patients with LPHS.
Dr. Sarah Liskowich, BSc, MD, CCFP, BEd
Dr. Liskowich is an expert in managing patients with chronic pain, addictions, and mental health conditions. She joined our team in November 2021.
Dr. Matthew Lanktree

Dr. Lanktree is a clinician scientist in nephrology genetics. He has an undergraduate degree in Bioinformatics, followed by a combined MD/PhD with a specialization in human genetics.

Dr. Garg has been with our team since Oct 2022. She was a deputy editor and specializes in systematic reviews. She serves as a project lead on CCKD and HD Studies.

Dr. Sharma joined our team in June 2021. Her specialties include Genomics and Bioinformatics. She serves as the project lead for the LPHS molecular studies.
