He is a Nephrologist (kidney specialist) committed to delivering high quality care to patients that meets their individual needs in a warm and friendly setting. Dr. Bhanu Prasad, who is the Saskatchewan Medical Association (SMA) 2018 Physician of year, has been called a “hero in plain clothes” by one of his  patients, a nurse. The patient was diagnosed with a kidney disease in 2011 and has been under the care of Dr. Prasad.

 “I feel that Dr. Prasad aims to excel in his profession and not for the acclaim, but for the betterment of his patients and medicine,” the patient wrote. “He is truly my personal hero. He made me feel that life was worth continuing for and that together we would find a solution, and we have!”

FAQ's About your appointment

 

Our medical services include consultation, assessment, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up care for individuals with kidney disease or disorder.

Dr. Prasad sees new patients only by referral. Please ask your care provider (nurse practitioner, family physician or specialist) for a referral to Dr. Prasad (see contact section for our phone and fax number).

Your nurse practitioner or doctor may refer you to us if you have any of the following (not limited to):

  • Kidney diseases and conditions:
    • rare diseases such as loin pain hematuria syndrome (LPHS), 
    • glomerular disorders (conditions that affect the cleaning units of the kidney),
    • genetic disorders such as polycystic kidney disease,
    • complications of autoimmune conditions (such as lupus),
    • cancers
  • Advanced chronic kidney disease
  • End stage kidney disease
  • Large amounts of blood or protein in your urine
  • High blood pressure that is still high even though you are taking medications

The medical office administrator at the Dr. Prasad’s clinic will let you know of your appointment time. You will either receive a phone call from the clinic or get a letter in the mail. The call or letter provides you detailed information with the tests you need to take before showing up at Dr. Prasad’s clinic.

Please contact the clinic. The medical office administrator will book you for all the required tests (such as ultrasound, blood and urine tests). Please take the requested tests prior to your appointment at Dr. Prasad’s clinic.

You can drive, take a bus, or bike to us. Bike lanes and bus routes are available on Pasqua street. 

Free parking is available on-site. Also, a free parking lot (one-minute walk from the clinic) is located at the intersection of Hill Avenue and Pasqua Street.

Yes, our clinic has an elevator, so it is accessible to people with walkers and wheelchairs.

You will receive a friendly phone appointment reminder from the clinic a day prior to your appointment. 

Please bring your valid health card and the list of the medications you are taking.

While waiting for your appointment, your blood pressure, weight and height will be measured.

The first appointment will be in-person. The follow-up appointment can be done via telephone or video. 

During the COVID-19 pandemic we will take the following safety precautions to make sure to keep you, your family members, and the office personnel safe. 

  • Your appointment might take place through a phone or video call (you will be informed prior to the appointment)
  • Our personnel in the clinic wear mask, keep 2-meter social distancing, and are fully vaccinated.
  • The front desk, chairs is in the waiting area, door handles, and all surfaces will be disinfected prior to each individual visiting the office.
  • Please reschedule your appointment if you are sick or have been in contact with a person with COVID-19 in the past 14 days.
  • Upon arrival to the clinic please remain in the vehicle and contact us. The medical office administrator will ask you the COVID-19 screening questions. Once you pass the test and it is established that there are no other patients sitting in the waiting area, the medical office administrator will request you and one member of the family to enter the waiting room. 
  • Please wear a mask prior to entering the clinic.  
  • You will be immediately asked to go to the washroom to scrub your hands with soap. 
  • Please keep 2-meter social distancing

Please note that some of the above safety measurements might not apply at the time of your visit. The medical office administrator will update you with the safety measurements upon booking your schedule.
